Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar Pays Tribute to Mahendra Shastri

ALWAR। Former Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar arrived in Alwar on Friday and paid tribute to former Mundawar MLA Mahendra Shastri. He recalled Shastri's decades-long social contributions and his role in the cooperative movement.

Shastri's Social Contributions

Dhankhar stated that Mahendra Shastri played a significant role in strengthening the cooperative movement in Rajasthan. He said that Shastri made continuous efforts for the successful operation of cooperative banks. The movement was entirely peaceful and successful, resulting in OBC reservation for five communities including the Jat community. Along with Shastri, Rajaram Meel and Dr. Hari Singh were also prominent faces in the movement committee.

Social Justice and Reservation Movement

The former Vice President mentioned the fight for social justice, stating that Shastri's contributions were not limited to cooperatives but he was also active in the social justice movement. He actively helped secure reservation for the Jats. Over the past nearly 25 years, OBC reservation has brought significant changes in many sections of society. There was no violence during this movement and it was widely successful.

Dhankhar's Visit to Alwar

Dhankhar had previously visited Alwar in June 2026 along with his wife Dr. Sudesh Dhankhar. This time he came to pay tribute after Shastri's demise. He said that Shastri's thoughts, work, and concerns will continue to inspire future generations. He also mentioned a conference held in Vidyadhar Nagar, which included leaders like Kashiram and Arif Anwar.
